Dominique Marshall, bed linen designer at Christy, gives her top tips to making the most of your bed this Spring:

- Be generous with your use of pillows - the addition of extra pillows is a great way to add a touch of luxury to your bed. Four standard is the minimum I’d recommend for an inviting look and you can add a couple of Continental (square) pillows at the back for a truly indulgent look. Remember you can always take a layer of pillows off when it is time to go to bed. Plump your pillows regularly to make them look soft and welcoming.

- Accessorise – the easiest way to change the look of your bed for each season is to change your accessories. Throws and cushions in light, delicate fabrics like cotton and silk are inviting yet cool for the warmer months.

- Bed linen – choose Egyptian cotton as this will keep you cooler in the summer. Always iron your bed linen so you don’t spoil the look.

- Make your bed properly – this may seem like an obvious point but a well-dressed bed is immediately more inviting. If you are using a throw take care how you position it. Use your throw folded as a runner ¾ of the way down or fold and drape at the bottom of the bed.
